Syracuse residents can now take an active role in keeping local trails clean through the city’s new Adopt-a-Trail program. Mayor Ben Walsh announced the initiative, which invites individuals, businesses, and organizations to maintain sections of the Onondaga Creekwalk and the Empire State Trail along Erie Boulevard East.

Participants will help by removing litter, reporting maintenance needs, and hosting three cleanup events throughout the year. Walsh says the effort will help preserve public spaces and keep them accessible for everyone.

Those interested can sign up at syr.gov/adoptatrail. The city also offers the Adopt-a-Block program for those who want to help clean neighborhoods.
