Southeastern Oswego County residents are being asked to vote for a tax increase of almost seven-percent in school budget votes later this month. To be more precise, the 6.8% hike for the 2025-26 school year comes one year after the Central Square Central School District District’s tax increase of the same amount in 2024-25.

The district’s nearly $104 million budget plan includes raises for assistant principals of 13%, and secretaries seeing four to 20% increases, while technology employees face pay cuts.

Residents will also vote on a $1.8 million vehicle purchase, a $25,000 library tax increase, and a $100,000 capital project for the middle school. The 3,600-student district maintains a 90% graduation rate.

The proposed budget and propositions are available in the Central Square School District's newsletter. School budget votes in numerous districts are on May 20th.
