Rome Senator Joe Griffo expressed dissatisfaction with the new state budget, citing insufficient long-term relief for New Yorkers despite increased spending.

A Central New York Republican is no fan of the new state budget. Rome Senator Joe Griffo notes that the budget increased by $11 billion at a time when New Yorkers and their families are tightening their belts. Griffo argues there was little long-term relief for regular people, saying that one-time payments were insufficient.

While he approves of increased funding for libraries, infrastructure improvements, upgrades for Upstate Medical, and free breakfast and lunch in schools, he opposes new regulations, mandates, and closing prisons. Griffo says New York is in desperate need of a change in direction.
