Micron expands investment in US projects to $200 billion

An agreement between Micron and the White House removes uncertainty over whether the microchip manufacturer would receive billions in aid to build a facility in Central New York.

Micron and the federal government have agreed to solidify funding under the Chips and Science Act. The microchip manufacturer has agreed to expand its own U.S. investments by $30 billion, for a new total of $200 billion.

The company is spending half that to build a a fabrication plant in Clay. Shortly after being elected, President Trump threatened to cancel the grants and tax breaks. With those incentives restored, Congressmember John Mannion says the huge development project in Clay can move forward to become the nation’s leader in technical innovation.
