New York State Senate
New York’s health care system could face a major crisis if proposed Senate cuts in the so-called Big Beautiful Bill are adopted by the House.

New York’s health care system is headed for challenges if the Senate cuts in the so-called Big Beautiful Bill are adopted in the House.

The Fiscal Policy Institute estimates the impact on New York will be $13.5 billion annually and leave about 1.5 million people without insurance.

The Institute adds, hospitals in the state will face rising costs for uncompensated care given to people without insurance. Plus, the fund New York uses to help hospitals will be reduced in 2028.

Overall, it projects the Senate version could throw New York into an immediate financial crisis.
