Andrew Cuomo says he’ll run for New York City mayor on a third-party line after losing the Democratic primary last month to Zohran Mamdani.

New York City voters will likely get another chance to vote for Andrew Cuomo for Mayor. He announced he’ll run in November on a third-party line.

Cuomo lost the democratic primary in June to Zohran Mamdani. The former governor says issues such as lower rent, safer streets, and childcare (that won’t bankrupt parents) are possible with his experience.

Cuomo would likely run on the ballot line for the “Fight and Deliver” party, which he helped create. Current Mayor Eric Adams is also running as an independent, along with republican Curtis Sliwa.

Fewer than one in three democrats voted in the city primary. Cuomo says that means there’s plenty of potential support to overtake the party nominee, in a city with a large majority of democrats.
