A new state grant will help law students support veterans with health and disability claims.

Syracuse University’s Law School will expand legal services to help veterans get health and disability benefits, thanks to a new state grant.

The Department of Veterans Services is providing $150,000 in ‘Justice for Heroes’ grants to five law schools to help with unmet legal needs.

“The Justice For Heroes initiative is more than a grant — it’s a powerful commitment to those who have worn the uniform... Together, we are transforming unmet legal needs into lasting legal outcomes.”
Viviana M. DeCohen, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Veterans’ Services

SU Law has the Betty and Michael D. Wohl Veterans Legal Clinic to help military-connected students.

The school calls the program to help teach future legal advocates for vets, a first-of-its-kind in higher education.
