Today marks the last day when Central New Yorker’s can register their comments on the massive Micron project in Clay.

The 45 day open public comment period draws to a close at midnight tonight. Last month, the only public hearing for the project was held at Liverpool High School.

At an open mic, citizens complained the amount of time given to review the 20,000 page report was insufficient to adequately respond to the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

“We have an opportunity to do this right from the start," implored one citizen, "So, I encourage you to please do that. Starting with extending the comment period and opening-up more opportunities for people to publicly comment.”

Speakers were concerned about the destruction of 200 acres of wetlands, traffic flow, and how Micron plans to protect the water table from potential toxic chemicals it uses or produces.

Public comments, questions, and concerns are welcomed, so long as they're emailed or postmarked by the midnight deadline. Go to the report to see the addresses for submitting those remarks.
