This weekend will feature a pair of events that honor the formation of the New York State Antislavery Society. Friday at 4 p.m. there will be a one-hour, one-mile tour of Underground Railroad and abolition sites in Utica. The tour will also discuss an event in October 1835 when 600 New York abolitionists were forced out of Utica and went to Peterboro, where they established the organization.
Those interested in Friday’s event should meet at the Legal Aid office in Utica at 120 Bleeker Street.
On Saturday, the fourth annual Abolition Walk departs from the National Abolition Hall of Fame in Peterboro at 9 a.m. Information and registration are available on the Hall of Fame website.
