WAER’s Election Connection series continues with a look at the race for the 126th assembly district. Democrat Ian Phillips is hoping to unseat two-term Republican incumbent John Lemondes. The district covers towns along the southern and western edges of Onondaga County, and several towns in central Cayuga County, including the city of Auburn.

The Lemondes campaign did not respond to multiple attempts to schedule an interview.

In the public interest, WAER offered each candidate the chance to state their campaign platforms uninterrupted in less than a minute, including who they are, why they're running, their priorities, and how they're financing their campaign. We then asked several follow up questions, all of which can be heard by clicking the listen bubble above.
