Central New York theater fans wanting to attend an after-party with the stars get their chance this weekend. Syracuse Stage is throwing its first-ever “Cast Party” as part of its annual fundraiser. Managing director Carly Allen said it’s a dressy-casual affair without the pressure of having to dress-up for a black-tie-gala.

“Reminiscent of what happened after an opening night or something where you have a show and everybody goes to either to the lobby or the restaurant has a party. But, it’s interactive in the sense that there’s an option for a seated dinner next door at Phoebe’s,” she said.

Funds help support STAGE’s performances and educational programs like the “Young Playright Festival.” Local theater students get to see their plays come to life. This year, the theater received more than 200 entries.

“We choose eight finalists and as part of our partnership with Syracuse University students who are acting in these shows and they’ll have one workshop production where they can rehearse their show and see it on its feet," she said. "And then, we actually present these eight shows presented by these high school students.”

The main entertainment for the “Cast Party” fundraiser is a Syracuse cabaret singer Marissa Mulder originally from Syracuse. There’s an option to attend the show without dinner on Saturday night. Click here for more details. STAGE is a supporter of WAER.
