NY offers $21 million for solutions reducing transportation pollution

This week, New York State launched incentives to reduce emissions in one of the biggest sources of greenhouse gases, transportation. Governor Kathy Hochul unveiled the Clean Mobility Program, offering up to $21 million to help build, develop, and implement zero-emission transportation projects. Funding prioritizes projects solving persistent transportation problems such as electric vehicle charging times, access to electric bikes and scooters, ride sharing programs, and other transit related issues.

Hochul added that solutions should “offer residents affordable connections to services, jobs, and transit, including in underserved communities.”

While the federal government walks away from clean air and energy standards, Hochul assured that “New York continues to invest in modern, flexible and efficient electric transportation options that improve air quality and expand affordable consumer choices.”

Municipalities, community organizations and employers with more than one thousand people on staff are eligible to apply. The State will also consider demonstration projects for new technologies. Visit the Clean Mobility Program website to learn more.
