A Central New York Republican lawmaker is among those calling on the governor to sign a bill prohibiting cashless establishments. State Sen. Joe Griffo (R), Rome, is upset that places like the State Fair, Saratoga Race Track and sports arenas have moved to cashless payments. Griffo said the legislation that passed the assembly prohibits food service and retail establishments from refusing to accept cash from customers. He said some don’t have access to credit cards or a checking account.

“An overwhelming majority of New Yorkers support this proposal,” said Griffo in a statement.
