A new public opinion poll suggests the 2026 race for Governor might be closer than originally thought.Last month, a Sienna College poll showed Governor Kathy Hochul with a 25% advantage over republican Elise Stefanik. Now, a new poll with republican ties -- and paid for by Stefanik’s PAC - claims Hochul only holds a 5% lead. The Albany Times Union says state democrats claim the poll violates campaign finance laws because it used federal campaign dollars and details weren’t provided publicly within 48 hours. Stefanik hasn’t officially announced whether she’ll run for Governor.
