Influenza cases are rising at a record pace over the past month in Central New York.

As of Nov. 22, the most recent data available, cases are up statewide 117% from the previous week. The flu season starts in December, and numbers are already surpassing last year's entire season.

The first week of December is National Influenza Vaccination Week, and the state health department reminds people that it is not too late to get vaccinated. To keep infections down, State Health Commissioner Doctor James McDonald has required all unvaccinated healthcare personnel wear masks in the presence of patients.
