A line of voters stretches along the sidewalk in front of DeWitt Town Hall Wednesday.

Early voter turnout has been robust across Onondaga County, with more than 40,000 voters casting ballots at ten locations. The DeWitt site is proving to be among the busiest. Well over a thousand voters have passed through the town hall every day.

Jerry from DeWitt is among them. He's a registered Democrat.

“I'm concerned about Trump, and so I voted mostly Democratic," he said. “I'm more concerned about the national elections than these local elections.”

Karen from Fayetteville shared the same sentiment.

“I'd like to see the Democrats take over the House," she said.

There’s no doubt the bigger races capture the attention of more voters. But this year, local races, like county legislature and town boards, join the congressional contest, along with state assembly and senate positions. Alicia of Manlius said she tries to be aware of everyone on the ballot.

“I think there are some important races for sure at the county level and at the state level," she said. "Not like I could spout off someone's plan or anything like that, but I do try to make sure that I know who I'm voting for and that they align with where I hope the country is going and the state and the county.”

Alicia said she’s a registered Democrat but adds in one race, she voted for a candidate from another party.

Early voting continues Friday from 10 to 6, and 9 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday.
