Horror writer Victor LaValle- Kendall Phillips chats with American author Victor LaValle. Victor is the author of a short-story collection, Slapboxing with Jesus and four novels, The Ecstatic, Big Machine, The Devil in Silver, and The Changeling. Kendall and Victor discuss the early days of the horror genre, take a critical look at how it has progressed, and talk about how Victor's process has changed over the years.

Horror writer Matt Ruff- Joe Lee speaks with Lovecraft Country author, Matt Ruff, about his book, its adaptation for television, and his thoughts on HBO’s vision for his acclaimed work. The two discuss at length the intersection of racism and the science fiction genre and H.P. Lovecraft’s problematic inspiration for this story.
