Syracuse Men’s Basketball landed its first commit in the class of 2024. Guard Elijah Moore announced that he will attend Syracuse University on a live stream in late January. Ben Spector dives into how the Orange landed Moore.

Syracuse Men’s Basketball continued to build its program for the future. Amidst all of the turnover in recruiting involving the NIL, four-star recruit Elijah Moore verbally committed to the ‘Cuse in late January. Moore marks the first SU commit in the class of 2024.

Moore announced his commitment on a 247 Sports live stream in late January. The Bronx native put the microphone down in an interview with 247 Sports Scouting Director Adam Finkelstein, unzipped his jacket, and revealed an orange shirt with blue lettering that read “Syracuse.” Moore received an outstanding ovation.

“Syracuse was a great time,” Moore said on the M&L Tonight Podcast. “I went to Coach Boeheim’s house, which was amazing. Being on the campus, looking at the people, chilling with the team, and watching practice was just a great experience.”

Everything about the campus stood out to Moore, and after attending SU’s matchup with North Carolina inside the Dome, he was hooked.

“Being there, I had to take a step back and put my feet in their shoes,” Moore said on the M&L Tonight Podcast. “The love that [the fans]
give their players and how they push them is something I definitely liked.”

Moore credits his father for getting him to this point, and as a sharpshooter that attends Cardinal Hayes High School, Finkelstein acknowledged how much of a threat the guard will be on the hill.

“He’s got good positional size, a strong body, and he’s got solid athleticism in the open floor,” Finkelstein said on the 247 Sports Channel. “Everything else is going to come off of his ability to make shots. He has to get lower to the ground as a playmaker…but let’s not get this wrong. He is an elite shooter.”

The elite shooter stays in his home state. While in his commitment message, he said his next home for “two, three, or maybe four years,” that next landing spot is right here in Central New York.
