Micron is investing hundreds of millions into a community development fund for the region. Meanwhile, Syracuse officials are considering a new shuttle for employees.

Half of the $500 million dollar community development fund will come from Micron. The other $250 million will be matched by federal, state, and local partners.

Syracuse could cash in from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, especially around technology to implement 5G wireless systems. JMA Wireless hosted Senator Chuck Schumer who explained provisions to buy American-only products for some $60 billion in broadband funding would help JMA, the only manufacturer of 5G components in the nation right now.

Onondaga County has reached a dal with a consortium of local developers to repurpose the long-troubled Shoppintown Mall site. The new project called District East will include housing, including some moderate income and senior residences, retail, entertainment. County recoups some of back taxes.
