Recently laid-off TCGplayer workers, local labor leaders, and some local politicians continue to protest eBay's announcement that the Syracuse Authentication Center is closing.

About 220 workers at TCGplayer in downtown Syracuse are losing their jobs as eBay plans to move operations to Kentucky. The union that helped organize the workforce says the closure is a blow to labor rights.

The company and its owner eBay were forced by federal labor officials to recognize the unionized workers last summer, but a contract remains out of reach.

Unions promise to stand their ground for workers rights, better wages and benefits.

The workers voted to join Communications Workers of America back in March, and filed unfair labor practice charges when the company refused to recognize the union.

eBay acquired TCGplayer in 2022 for nearly $300 million, and TCG workers are officially being incorporated into the parent company Aug. 1.
