Gov. Hochul attends a special Subway Series MLB game between the New York Yankees and New York Mets on the 20th anniversary of September 11th, 2001.

While many New Yorkers approve of Hochul's performance, a good portion of those surveyed feel her three weeks on the job are too few to judge.

A new Siena College Poll shows that a lot of New Yorkers are viewing the new governor as favorable, but a lot of voters also said they just don’t know a lot about Kathy Hochul, even though she’s been lieutenant governor for several years.

The Siena Poll shows that Hochul is viewed favorably by 42% of voters and unfavorably by 17%, with 41% of those surveyed not knowing enough about Hochul to have an opinion.

The survey also asked questions about wearing masks and being vaccinated against COVID-19.

Siena Pollster Steve Greenberg said New Yorkers showed strong support for vaccines and masks:

“When we asked how it's going to affect you, do you support businesses like gyms or restaurants requiring their customers to show proof of vaccination? Two thirds, 66 to 32% say, yes, they support it. Masks. 74% of voters say they support governments requiring masks in indoor settings.”

Greenberg says the poll also shows that by a 78 to 18% margin, voters support school districts requiring masks for students and staff in schools.
