Just about every country around the globe has condemned Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, and that includes Israel. But Israeli diplomat Itay Milner told WAER's Scott Willis that the middle eastern country has a complicated history and relationship with Russia, finds itself in an awkward balancing act as it supports Ukraine.

4. City's affordable housing initiative moves forward with council approval

Housing Visions recently renovated these homes on E. Genesee St. as affordable homes. The company will be involved in building new infill housing on the south and west sides of the city as part of the city's Resurgent Neighborhoods Initiative.

Housing Visions recently renovated these homes on E. Genesee St. as affordable homes. The company will be involved in building new infill housing on the south and west sides of the city as part of the city's Resurgent Neighborhoods Initiative.

The Walsh administration’s big push to build new affordable housing in the city took another step forward Monday. They also approved federal pandemic relief funds for a series of items, including an assessment of the city’s gun violence prevention efforts.

5. Late priest bequeaths home to resettle new refugees in Syracuse

The home on Oak Street was a part of a longtime Irish and German community. It is now being renovated by Operation Northern Comfort volunteers and is on track to be available in spring.

7. Drive gathers medical supplies for Ukraine

Several organizations have joined together to help resource Ukraine. Volunteers from the Ukrainian Medical Association of Syracuse have been collecting topical antibiotics, alcohol pads to donate to charitable organizations and local schools.

It’s becoming more likely that New York could see a suspension of some gasoline taxes in the new state budget to help ease steeply rising gas prices linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
