State Police say more than 11,601 traffic tickets were issued Halloween weekend, and law enforcement made 189 impaired driving arrests.
An enforcement campaign funded by Gov. Hochul's Traffic Safety Committee began the Friday before Halloween and continued through Nov. 1.
"Through enforcement campaigns like this, my administration will continue to crack down on impaired and reckless driving to prevent needless tragedies and make New York roads safer for all," Hochul said in a statement.
Acting State Police Superintendent Steven Nigrelli said in a statement the work of their officers and law enforcement partners resulted in a successful enforcement campaign and prevented possible tragedies. He cautions drivers to make responsible choices every time they drive.
