SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry's administration is showing support for Gov. Kathy Hochul's environmental agenda. After the governor's State of the State address, the administration described the agenda as “clear, aggressive and achievable.”
On social media, ESF offered to help design, execute and assess Hochul's proposed cap and invest program that aims to help reduce the state's greenhouse gas emissions.
Today @GovKathyHochul outlined a clear, aggressive & achievable environmental agenda for NYS. ESF is ready to help, however we can, in the design, execution & assessment of the Gov’s cap & invest program and Waste Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act.

Through the program, the state would limit how much pollution it emits per year, and large-scale greenhouse gas emitters would have to pay for the pollution they produce. The funds generated from the program would then go to investments in climate mitigation and energy efficiency projects.
According to a release from the governor's office, the program draws from similarly successful emission-reducing initiatives worldwide in hopes of assembling a clean energy economy.
"Through our innovative efforts, we will create a cleaner, greener future while helping New Yorkers with the costs of the transition," Hochul said in a release.
