Each Wednesday this August WAER will bring you Masters of Scale hosted by Reid Hoffman. This program from PRI picks the brain of some of the most recent successful entrepreneurs.
If you’re already familiar with Reid Hoffman, you’ll recognize him as the co-founder of LinkedIn, one of Silicon Valley’s most legendary investors (i.e. Facebook, AirBnB, Zynga, etc.), and a sought-after source of advice for everyone from heads of start-ups to heads of state.
In the show, Reid tests theories (patterns he’s observed) about how companies grow from zero to a gazillion by unpacking the stories from famous founders. It’s full of wisdom, honesty, great storytelling, etc. all scored to originally composed music and sound design. Some of the counter-intuitive theories include: “If you aren’t embarrassed by your first product release, you’ve released too late,” “Successful entrepreneurs have to let fires burn — sometimes very large fires,” and “In order to scale, you have to do things that don’t scale.”
Each episode includes a surprising open that provides the perfect set-up for a theory Reid has had about scaling. It then unfolds like a detective story as he explores and tests the idea with other masters of scale. There’ll be an anchoring conversation with an iconic CEO, and some of the best-known figures in technology and other industries will make up the guest list.
The series features iconic entrepreneurs such as Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg, Airbnb’s Brian Chesky, Endeavor’s Linda Rottenberg, Netflix’s Reed Hastings, Crisis Text Line’s Nancy Lublin, Alphabet’s (Google’s parent company) Eric Schmidt, Minted’s Mariam Naficy, and Bill Gates, among others. Masters of Scale is the first American media program to commit to a 50-50 gender balance for featured guests.
This is a special series you wont want to miss, so be tuned in starting Wednesday August 2nd at 2pm for Masters of Scale on WAER.
