Oneida Lake History

Oneida Lake History

Author Jack Henke will share an overview of his recently published book - Oneida Lake History: Facts, Fables, and Photographs - at the Oneida Community Mansion House on Tuesday, June 2, at 6:00. Henke will discuss Oneida Lake’s importance in state and local history as he highlights groups of people who took advantage of the lake’s bountiful resources. Among these groups were the Oneida Community and the employees of Oneida Limited, many of whom enjoyed the company’s recreational facilities at Lewis Point.

Henke, a graduate of Hamilton College, and Brown and Syracuse Universities, has written five books about the Oneida Lake region. The author taught history at Brookfield Central School for thirty-seven years and has served as a reference librarian at the New Hartford Public Library since his retirement from teaching in 2011.
