Downtown Syracuse graffiti dedicates Syracuse as "the mighty Salt City."

It appears Syracuse’ financial management over the last seven years has held strong, countering recent excuses by common councilors to deeply cut the budget.

Municipal credit rating agency Moody’s once again gave the city an A-1 bond rating and stable outlook for the seventh consecutive year. That covers every fiscal year budget under mayor Ben Walsh’s tenure.

“Moody’s closely follows the challenges we face and how our team manages city finances. Their determination supports the fact that under this administration, Syracuse is in better financial health than it has been in decades.”
Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh

Walsh says the objective opinion of the city’s fiscal condition vindicates his work against claims by some council members that mismanagement has led to impending fiscal peril for the city.
