Lower income residents are getting a break on energy bills. The New York Public Service Commission says those below median incomes who don’t currently qualify for energy affordability programs will see their bills capped at six percent of their household income.

“Affordability is a top priority, and today’s action will help more New Yorkers affordably power and heat their homes.”
Commission Chair Rory M. Christian

The PSC projects 1.6 million more households are eligible for energy bill relief. The commission says affordability is its top priority. More information is available on the commission's website.
