Lafayette neighbors want to know why a Syracuse woman drove her car erratically through their neighborhood killing another woman and injuring two men who tried to stop her.

Forty-six-year-old Irene McIntyre was seen running over 79-year-old Cheryl Miron shortly before 1:37 a.m. Sunday. When troopers arrived, another resident had positioned his car behind McIntyre’s to try and stop her from driving further. She reportedly slammed her 2016 Subaru into his vehicle then continued driving through the neighborhood's front lawns, injuring another resident who tried to stop her.

Trooper Michael Sharson said he fatally shot McIntyre after she ignored repeated orders to stop. He was placed on automatic leave while the case is investigated. The two men who tried to stop her prior to the officers’ arrival were treated and released from local hospitals.
