Marisa Nuñez
Content CreatorMarisa Nuñez is a graduate student studying Broadcast and Digital Journalism at Syracuse University, expected to graduate in August 2026. As a content creator at WAER, Marisa helps produce digital and radio stories.
Prior to arriving at WAER Marisa was the editor-in-chief at The University Star in San Marcos, Texas. As a Bachelor of Science graduate of Texas State University, Nuñez received the 2025 Golden Standard Award for Electronic Media. She is a San Antonio, Texas native who has had her sights on telling compelling news stories that educate the public since she first stepped foot onto TXST’s campus.
When Nuñez was three she became hooked on her first love, dance, and later led her high school team to win the Texas state championship. Writing about performing arts comes naturally, but her interests have grown into covering stories on the environment, politics, and social justice.
