Farmers & climate change: how they cause, experience & mitigate the problem

WAER's environmental podcast Deeper Shade of Green with Dr. Chris Bolt

Farmers can't escape the climate and climate change. Perhaps ironically, they suffer the effects - in droughts, floods, changing growing conditions - while also contributing to the problem by adding carbon emissions and increasing methane through livestock. The New York Department of Agriculture has a program to help on multiple fronts.

On this episode of Deeper Shade of Green, we discuss the Climate Resilient Farming program that helps farmers adopt practices that can help them and the planet. We speak with Brian Steinmuller, Assistant Director for the Division of Land and Water at the Department of Agriculture and Markets, and Matt Brower, Soil and Water Conservation Committee Chair and a farmer himself.

Research, guest scheduling and production help for Deeper Shade of Green by Hector Perez. Our music was produced by Kat Kollins.
