As the community begins the Memorial Day weekend, the percentage of new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases in Onondaga County increased again. Officials reported that 53% of new cases over the last three days are from people with no symptoms. This comes with recent implementation of universal testing in the community.

  Even though the voluntary shelter-in-place order expired in Onondaga County Tuesday, County Executive Ryan McMahon said that does not mean it is time to relax social distancing practices.

The President and CEO of St. Joseph's Hospital believes that Onondaga County has past its peak in COVID-19 hospitalizations. Leslie Luke said they have been able to set up special units for coronavirus patients and have enough ventilators.

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh stopped by the Onondaga County daily COVID-19 briefing Tuesday. Walsh discussed social distancing policies in the city and how police are handling those who are have not been complying.

This time of year is typically the peak time for school field trips at the Museum of Science and Technology in Syracuse.  President Lauren Kochian says they’re missing out on $90,000 in revenue from 18,000 students that would ordinarily stream through the doors between mid-March and the end of the school year.
