The Syracuse Orange (16-13, 9-9 Atlantic Coast) have essentially kissed their NCAA Tournament hopes good bye, barring a miracle run in the ACC Tournament next week. On Saturday, Syracuse fell 92-79 to the struggling North Carolina Tar Heels, who at 12-17, reside in the basement of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The NAACP of Syracuse and Onondaga County shared their focal points for 2020 that include voting, health and education improvements, and justice in the community.  Chapter President Linda Brown-Robinson hopes to bring the community together to improve the economy of the city of Syracuse.

On Saturday, February 1, the Syracuse Orange (13-9, 6-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) welcomed the No. 9 Duke Blue Devils (18-3, 8-2) to the Carrier Dome in their only matchup of the 2019-2020 regular season. The Blue Devils have gotten the better of the Orange since becoming members of the same conference, but by the slimmest of margins, winning five of nine regular season matchups.

Optimism. Confidence.  Windows of opportunity.  A city that is surging.  Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh expressed all of that in his State of the City address last night.   

But he also acknowledged there’s more work to be done.

As we approach the halfway point of the 2019-2020 college basketball season, the output from Syracuse basketball leaves much to be desired. Sitting at 8-7, with a dismal 1-3 Atlantic Coast record, with the most difficult part of their schedule just ahead, Syracuse does not have much to look forward to either. On Saturday at 4:00, the Orange will take on the No. 18 Virginia Cavaliers (11-3, 3-1) in Charlottesville in a rematch of the 2019-20 season opener.

With seven games in the books, Syracuse basketball is still searching for their identity. Since falling to defending champion Virginia in the season opener, Syracuse (4-3, 0-1) have experienced a rejuvenating change at point guard, a 97-point outburst, and most recently, consecutive losses that have sent this team back to the drawing board. 

The Central New York community has a lot offer it's residents, but what about the night life? There's a new late night spot in Syracuse and they're hoping to add a little spice to downtown in a unique atmosphere.

There's been a trend growing if you pay attention to lifestyle and culture around the Syracuse area. Vegan items in restaurants and the availability of vegan products in grocery store has been steadily on the rise. To gain a better understanding of the movement that goes far beyond simply a diet, Joe Lee and Kevin Kloss sat down with Jim Thompson and Theresa Stowell of Vegan CNY.

They discuss what Vegan CNY hopes to offer the Syracuse community, what inspired them to pursue this lifestyle and then they taste some authenic vegan food items.

There’s a new housing option in Syracuse for people just released from prison.  The project is designed as part of a reentry program for residents, like Michael Hunter, who must readjust to life after incarceration.
