The Coronavirus pandemic has caused health and fiscal strain across the community, and it continues to even as parts of the economy reopen. But organizations who help those struggling say the problems aren’t new. They’re existing problems that have been made worse by the effects of COVID-19.
Two local nonprofits published separate assessments earlier in the summer with this exact finding. Greater Syracuse H.O.P.E and Peace Inc are now trying to inform policy makers and empower the community with this data. Their latest endeavour, The White Paper series, offers historical context to current issues in two pages.
