Two more people from Onondaga County have died due to COVID-19. County Executive Ryan McMahon said both victims were women, one in her 70s, one in her 80s. Additionally, there are 49 people in the hospital with 20 people in the ICU.

Twenty-six people tested positive for COVID-19 since Sunday. This brings the total positive cases in the county to 520. McMahon noted that the county has 64 pending tests at the moment, which is the lowest they've had.

"Essentially we're at a point with testing where we are almost in real time," said McMahon. "There's testing going on today. We anticipate testing today may be a little bit more in demand than yesterday. People may have not, maybe didn't go out on Easter. But certainly our ability to do our job quickly is now there with almost live time testing."

Meanwhile, there are 252 active cases and 257 people who have recovered, marking the first time more people have recovered than people who are currently sick with COVID-19 . McMahon said the data reflects that social distancing is working. Onondaga County's voluntary shelter-in-place order went into effect April 7th.

Since the closing of schools last month, Onondaga County has provided 430,000 meals to children. That works out to around 17,000 meals a day.

"We're making sure these kids who are getting breakfast and lunch at school are still getting fed each day so that nobody is going hungry," said County Executive Ryan McMahon.

Also, over 50,200 meals have been served and 450 bags of groceries have been delivered to adults since March 18th. This work is done through the county's Senior, Healthcare Worker, and Adult Nutrition Hotline
