Pulaski Company Donates Locally-Made Air Purifiers to Syracuse Public Workers

John Smith/WAER News

A local company is ensuring workers at the Syracuse Department of Public Works has more in its arsenal to protect themselves from contracting COVID-19 ahead of the winter weather. Healthway Products of Pulaski delivered three air purification units to DPW headquarters to reduce the air particle count in tight spaces with a goal of lowering the virus count in the air.

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh says the donation will help essential workers stay safe.

“To have an air filtration system in here like this, and to have it be manufactured locally, not only helps enhance the level of protection of our employees health, but it also supports a growing local business as well, so it's really a win-win,” Mayor Walsh said.

One of the concerns during the winter is the inability to open windows to allow fresh air to come in. The air purifiers are programmed to exchange the air and reduce any airborne particles floating around. Healthway Family brands President Vinny Lobdell says the units will be placed in highly trafficked areas.

The Intellipure air filtration system are designed to remove airborne particles from the air and can protect workers against COVID-19.

“Here, it’s hard to do all the things that we necessarily may need to do under the social-distancing guidelines; so we got people coming in, punching the clock, people leaving and punching the clock, people gathering here, so the units were strategically placed here to help reduce the particle load in the space,” President Lobdell said.

The medical grade air purification units, known as Intellipure, capture particles to .007 microns, which, by comparison, is ten times smaller than COVID-19. Healthway products currently serve customers in over 30 countries including the Middle East, China and Indonesia.
