Two Central New Yorkers with backgrounds in agriculture attended President Trump’s joint address to Congress on Tuesday as guests of Senator Chuck Schumer and Congressmember John Mannion.

Mannion’s guest was Karin Reeves, a fifth-generation farmer from Baldwinsville who operates Reeves Vegetable and Berry Farms. She also serves on the board of the Food Bank of Central New York, working to address food insecurity in the region.

Schumer’s guest was Tiffany Ramos, a former U.S. Department of Agriculture employee who was recently fired from the agency’s Syracuse office. She was among tens of thousands dismissed via email on Valentine’s Day by the Trump administration. Ramos previously worked to support farmers and rural businesses in expanding operations.
